The plan to transport the deadly V-X nerve agent out of Indiana moves forward.

The Army says it will send samples of V-X to labs in both Illinois and Maryland so it can test the process it plans to use to destroy the V-X currently stored at the Newport Chemical Depot just north of Terre Haute.

Officials hope the tests will determine whether the wastewater resulting from the nerve agent's destruction is safe to transport from Indiana to a final disposal site along the Delaware River in New Jersey.

The disposal plan has already drawn opposition in both Delaware and New Jersey.
