RICHMOND - Army officials have confirmed that two more leaking M55 rockets were located Tuesday at the Blue Grass Army Depot.

The rockets contain GB (sarin) nerve agent and were identified after the igloo continued to have positive agent readings in its interior atmosphere. On May 26, three leaking rockets from the same igloo were placed in leakproof containers. It is standard practice for the Blue Grass Chemical Activity laboratory to continue monitoring an igloo after leaking munitions have been found to ensure that all of the leaking rounds were identified.

The rockets were found near the earlier leaking rockets.

"We knew we had not found them all and it was definitely a teamwork situation where the crew and the laboratory technicians worked together," said Wiley Flynn of Winchester, one of the toxic chemical crew that works with leaking munitions. "It doesn't take much motivation to do this job well. It's how we keep our community and our families safe."

The igloo will continue to be monitored for further agent leaks before the overpacked rockets are moved to another igloo. Because of the large number of leaks found in the igloo, it will be monitored every duty day until the destruction of the stockpile is complete.
