Officials are refusing to answer News 8's questions about several problems encountered while destroying the deadly VX nerve agent.
Newport Chemical Depot officials held a community meeting Thursday to discuss destroying containers that used to hold VX. The meeting follows several spills at the depot during the VX destruction process.
News 8 attended Thursday's meeting to get answers about the problems. The commander of the installation refused to answer our questions, saying he had to go to another appointment. But there were still two hours left in the meeting.
Thousands of gallons of the chemical weapon are stored at the depot.
