There were two hits Friday in the Army's plan to transport the waste of VX nerve agent from Newport, Indiana to New Jersey.
Late Friday I-team 8 learned that New Jersey’s State Environmental Agency agreed to give Dupont in New Jersey a new permit, but only if it does not include plans to dump VX wastewater into the Delaware River.
The New Jersey Commissioner said the Army's proposal was "flawed and should be abandoned."
This comes at the direction of the acting governor of New Jersey.
I-team 8 obtained documentation where the governor said he was particularly troubled that the Centers for Disease Control cannot conclude the wastewater leaving Newport, Indiana will be free of VX or that the wastewater even contains no detectable amounts of VX.
Indiana began destroying the VX and storing the waste a few weeks ago. I-team 8 is investigating and will bring you the latest.
