DuPont and Army officials are holding meetings
with the public about a chemical weapons waste disposal site along the Delaware
River. A federal government agency is preparing a report on the safety of a revised plan to treat up to four million gallons of neutralized V-X nerve agent at the Deepwater, New Jersey, site. Jane Nogaki, of the New Jersey Environmental Federation, says taxpayer dollars are being used to support DuPont's efforts at correcting what the industry calls misinformation about the program. An Army spokesman says DuPont has received taxpayer money to fund studies on the treatment plan. But the spokesman says the government is not financing the company's information effort. |
