Chemical weapons processing has resumed at the Tooele
Chemical Agent Disposal Facility
after a weeklong suspension to
verify plant compliance with new federal air-quality
regulations. Workers are processing the remainder of the Deseret Chemical
Depot stockpile of deadly VX
nerve
agent-filled spray banks, said Alaine Southworth, depot spokesperson. The
bulk agent containers stored in
Tooele County had been designed to be attached to aircraft to distribute
the agent to enemy battlefields. |
