Job fair set for Arkansas chemical disposal plant

Two job fair sessions for the Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility
in Arkansas will be conducted in Richmond and Lexington by the Washington
Group International.
Washington Group is under contract to the Bechtel Parson Blue Grass Team
to systemize and operate the future Blue Grass Cheamical Agent Destruction
Pilot Plant. The company has about 50 immediate job opportunities available
at its Pine Bluff Ark. chemical agent destruction facility.
The first job fair sessions, to be conducted April 10 at the Central Kentucky
Job Center, 1055 Industry Road, Lexington, will be at 10 a.m. and 2 and 6
p.m.
The second set of two-hour sessions will be conducted April 12 at Eastern
Kentucky University's Stratton Building at 10 a.m. and 2 and 6 p.m. The
three sessions will be conducted in the Posey Auditorium.
Positions to be filled include environmental specialists, mechanical technicians,
electrical technicians, instrumentation and controls technicians, control
room operators, plant operators and munitions handlers.

"Our need to fulfill staffing requrements will provide immediate jobs for
the folks in Kentucky and will provide Pine Bluff the opportunity to return
the favor by supplying a trained, qualified work force to Kentucky when their
facility is built," said Pine Bluff Plant Manager Guy Campbell.
"Having Kentucky residents starting their careers at the Arkansas facility
will allow them to gain valuable experience and training in a facility that
is in operation," said Chris Haynes, project manager for the Bechtel Parsons
Blue Grass Team.
"After working in an operating chemical destruction facility, they will have
the opportunity of transferring back to Kentucky to fill more senior positions
as our plant begins start-up, pilot testing and systemization and operations
activities," he said. "Blue Grass will benefit from a more experienced local
work force."
Ron Hawley, the Washington Group International plant general manager for
the Bechtel Parsons Blue Grass Team, said, "Individuals selected for positions
at Pine Bluff will gain valuable safety culture experience in the rigorous
conduct of oeprations required in chemical demilitarization plants. This
experience will be valuable to us in safely operating the Blue Grass facility."
