Mr. Michael Parker, Director
Chemical Materials Agency
Attn:  AMCTM/CM
Building E 5101
Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD 21010-5423

Dear Mr. Parker,

We, and the undersigned individuals and organizations, are writing to renew the request for regular public releases of detailed information on operation of the Anniston Chemical Disposal Facility (ANCDF).  Additionally, we are requesting that the Chemical Materials Agency (CMA) be more forthcoming and responsive to inquiries.

As you may recall, Serving Alabama's Environment and Chemical Weapons Working Group submitted an August 31, 2004 request that specific information and precise data surrounding the ANCDF be made public on a regular basis in the interest of maintaining awareness of facility operations.

Unfortunately, to date none of the requested information has made available, nor have we received an official response to the request from your office.

The only regular release of information regarding the facility seems to be the Weekly Updates posted on the CMA web site.  However, these Updates provide little useful information other than the amounts of munitions and agents burned to date.  The balance of material provided in the Updates has been little more than rhetoric extolling the virtues of the incineration technology.

The previous request, in contrast, sought specific, but reasonable, information on operational availability, permit compliance and other important aspects beyond mere throughput (disposal) rates.

Therefore, the undersigned individuals and organizations are resubmitting the request and seeking a formal response, so that the citizens of Alabama and elsewhere can have access to information that they deem vital to their health and well being and that of their children and the environment.

Finally, we should note that it is entirely appropriate and allowable for the undersigned to seek such information outside of the Alabama Citizens Advisory Commission (CAC).  As you are well aware, since the Army removed all citizens from the CAC who opposed incineration, requests from ordinary Alabama citizens to have this body take actions that even appear to conflict with the Army's agenda have met with little or no results.

Please provide a response to this and the attached Public Information Checklist at your earliest convenience, preferably no later than 15 days beyond receipt of this letter.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

David Christian
