Weapon destruction program names new manager

The Pueblo Chieftain Online

Kevin Flamm

Kevin Flamm, who has been overseeing chemical weapons destruction programs for the Army's Chemical Materials Agency, has been named interim program manager for the Assembled Chemical Weapons Program.

ACWA is a separate Defense Department in charge of programs at the Pueblo Chemical Depot and the Blue Grass Army Depot where water neutralization will be used to break down chemical weapons.

Flamm will be taking over for Mike Parker who retires next week. Parker had been in charge of both ACWA and CMA.

According to a Defense Department Web site, Flamm became the CMA program manager for the elimination of chemical weapons in October 2003, a $24 billion dollar program.

John Klomp, chairman of the Colorado Chemical Demilitarization Citizens Advisory Commission, said that a permanent replacement for Parker should be named by late May.
