ARKANSAS: APPROVAL FOR WEAPONS
INCINERATOR The Arkansas Supreme
Court upheld the state's approval for the Army to build a facility to destroy
chemical weapons from the Pine Bluff Arsenal. Opponents argued that the state's
environmental regulators were not taking into full account the risk of air
pollution from the weapons' incineration. Approximately 3,850 tons of chemical
weapons, including sarin and mustard gas, are stored at Pine Bluff, according
to the ruling. Ariel Hart (NYT)
