(KSL News) It was called the
greatest risk to the community. But this morning the stockpile of missiles
at the Deseret Chemical Depot carrying deadly VX nerve gas is no more.
Overnight workers at the depot finished disposing of the last of the
M- 55 rockets used to carry the nerve gas in combat.
The aging weapons stockpile had become a risk as the missiles began
to corrode and possibly leak.
The disposal of the VX nerve agent used in the missiles is still ongoing
-- and should be completed in summer of 2004.
