ARMY DEPOT GETS PERMIT FOR PLANT

Blue Grass Army Depot now has a permit to build a facility that will destroy its store of chemical weapons. The Kentucky Division of Waste Management yesterday granted a permit to build the Blue Grass Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant.

It will use neutralization technology to destroy the nerve agent GB and related waste. The permit takes effect Oct. 30. The plant, a Defense Department project, is being built at a price of $2 billion to destroy 523 tons of chemical weapons.
