BLUE GRASS ARMY DEPOT GETS FUNDS

A new report confirms the Defense Department is again spending money on a $2 billion plant that will destroy the 523 tons of chemical weapons at Blue Grass Army Depot in Madison County. The Pentagon reported that $8.5 million, previously withheld, had been sent to the depot by the end of August, with $33 million going to the depot's sister plant in Pueblo, Colo., Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., said yesterday. In April, McConnell added a provision to a spending bill requiring the Pentagon to spend $100 million at the plants within four months. The rest of the $100 million should be sent this month, according to the Pentagon report.
