CSEPP advises sheltering for residents of most towns
PENDLETON - Where you are at the time will determine your actions in the event of a chemical emergency at the Umatilla Chemical Depot. Ads in May's Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program media campaign will identify areas where people should shelter in place and those that should be evacuated.
People in or near six eastern Oregon cities (Hermiston, Stanfield, Echo, Umatilla, Irrigon and Boardman) would be advised to shelter in place. Two Washington cities (Plymouth and Patterson) would be advised to evacuate.
People asked to shelter in place would go inside their homes, shut off heating and air conditioning systems, and seal one room. Residents in Plymouth and Patterson would be advised to evacuate.
Columbia River boaters would be asked to leave the river at pre-determined boat ramps.
