Incinerator manager chosen

STOCKTON, Tooele County — Ted Ryba, who served as the acting site project manager at the

Army's chemical weapons incinerator, has been formally appointed to the manager's position.

Ryba will be the government's on-site representative over contractor EG&G Defense Materials, with oversight for the plant's operations, said Chuck Sprague, spokesman for Deseret Chemical Depot. The depot is the Army base that houses both the incinerator and the stored chemical arms the plant is destroying.

Ryba had served as deputy project manager for operations and engineering, overseeing the day-to-day disposal activities at the plant, the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility.

Ryba was born in Philadelphia and is a 1984 graduate from Drexel University in that city, where he earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. He is married to the former Tamara Zentner, from Provo, and they are parents of two children.
