Agent vapor causes evacuation at depot

Workers were evacuated when an agent vapor was detected at Deseret Chemical Depot Wednesday.

During routine hazardous waste operations in the Chemical Agent Munitions Disposal System plant, three workers discovered low levels of GB vapor, according to a statement from the United States Army Chemical Materials Agency.

The workers were not exposed to the vapors but were taken to medical facilities for observation and testing.

Officials say the incident occurred in an area of the plant with a cascading ventilation system. There was no danger to the rest of the depot or to adjacent communities. The source of the vapor contamination is under investigation.
