VX testing
Re: "DuPont tests VX byproduct in river: Firm discloses 4-month study of `treatability' " (C-P, May 6).

Since when has it become acceptable to discharge any waste into the Delaware River without the prior approval of the state Department of Environmental Protection? To makes things worse, DuPont had total disregard to the public and marine life to conduct these tests - dumping waste from the deadly VX nerve agent - for four months!

With this secrecy, one has to truly wonder just how bad this hydrolysate is, or if they in fact only used 6 1/2 gallons of it to run its test. Who knows for sure how many gallons were actually processed - or if they ran any test at all or just just proclaimed it to be safe.

To me, this action violates the rights of the residents of New Jersey. A large chemical company cannot do whatever it wants without notifying the proper authorities in advance. The state and federal goverments should have this action investigated immediately and put a stop to this VX waste coming into New Jersey once and for all.
