Crack found in tube for chemical weapons rocket

For the first time, a crack has been detected in a shipping and firing tube containing a chemical weapons rocket stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot near Richmond, Ky., officials said.

No deadly chemicals leaked, according to Blue Grass Chemical Activity, which manages the chemical weapons at the depot.

The crack was discovered by workers while moving the rocket inside a depot storage igloo. The weapon carries a warhead containing sarin nerve gas.

The shipping and firing tube with its rocket were sealed in a special container.
