Nothing
taken for granted
Even with the Pentagon's decision last week to reverse itself and allow work to proceed on planning for the destruction of chemical weapons at the Blue Grass Army Depot, Sen. Mitch McConnell stuck to his effort to make sure that happens.
The Kentucky Republican already had an amendment in the supplemental spending bill requiring the Defense Department to move ahead at Blue Grass. McConnell's amendment originally was prompted by the military's decision to put a hold on work at Blue Grass and a similar facility in Pueblo, Colo.
McConnell kept his amendment in the spending bill last week.
The measure passed the Senate and now moves to a House-Senate conference committee.
