Now online: The Army's updated chemical weapons disposal Web site

The Army Monday launched a redesigned Web site for its chemical demilitarization program.
The site provides program-wide and site-specific news and public information. It's located at www.pmcd.army.mil
An earlier incarnation of the site was in the midst of a redesign on Sept. 11, 2001, and the terrorist attacks led to further changes over the past year. The new site does not re-post sensitive information that was removed, such as aerial photographs and the exact numbers of weapons stored at each of the stockpiles.
However, a spokeswoman said, relevant reports and studies will be posted on the site, which has an entirely new design that is meant to be more navigable and current.
"Hopefully this one will stay more up-to-date than the
old one," said Marilyn Daughdrill, a
spokeswoman for the Program Manager for Chemical Demilitarization.
Most of the content on the page dedicated to the Anniston incinerator will be provided by staff at the program manager's headquarters in Aberdeen, Md. Local officials, however, will have some input.
"Locally we will have the opportunity to keep some of
the information updated ourselves," said incinerator spokesman
Mike Abrams.
