J'ville BOE meeting will review plan for shelter-in-place

The Jacksonville City Board of Education will review the shelter-in-place plan for the city schools at its regularly scheduled meeting, 6 p.m. today in the lecture room of Jacksonville High School.

The Calhoun County Emergency Management Agency will give the presentation on the proposed plan, which will go into effect in the event of a chemical weapons accident at the Anniston Army Depot's chemical weapons stockpile or chemical weapons incinerator.

Following the presentation, Superintendent Eric Mackey will ask the board to vote to let him appoint a committee of faculty, staff, parents and community members to review the proposed plan.
