David Reber has been named the Washington Group’s project general manager for the Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Pine Bluff, Ark.

Reber, a former nuclear reactor officer in the Navy, previously served as Deputy Project General Manager at Transuranic Solutions in Carlsbad, N.M., where he oversaw the transportation and disposal of nuclear waste.

The announcement of the appointment was made June 3.

Reber replaces acting project general manager Robert Love, who took over duties at Pine Bluff in March. Love oversaw the start of processing in Pine Bluff in late March, and has resumed his duties as project general manager in Anniston.

The facility will destroy Pine Bluff’s chemical weapons arsenal, which made up about 12 percent of the nation’s Cold War stockpile. The facility destroyed 8,831 sarin-filled rockets and 80,016 pounds of nerve agent through Monday.
