| I appreciate the steps Sen. Richard Shelby took last year to support
improved monitoring systems at the Anniston Army Depot. Fast, reliable, real-time
chemical agent monitors will help the Army fulfill its directive to provide
“maximum protection” to workers and local citizens. Yet the local Army officials
have shrugged off the suggestion of improved monitors.
The recent unexplained VX nerve agent detection underscores the need for these monitoring systems. As a citizen of Alabama, I urge Shelby to use his strong commitment to public safety to call for deployment of real-time chemical agent perimeter monitors. Bart Slawson |
