Workers at the Anniston Chemical Agent Disposal Facility destroyed 7,154 projectiles filled with the nerve agent sarin between Jan. 24 and Friday, along with 1,076 gallons of the deadly liquid, according to reports from the facility.

Destruction also continued at two of the nation’s other chemical weapons disposal sites.

Between Jan. 25 and Wednesday, workers at the Umatilla Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Umatilla, Ore., destroyed 240 bombs filled with sarin, and 60,883 pounds of the nerve agent.

Between Jan. 24 and Tuesday, the Newport Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Newport, Ind., destroyed 5,513 gallons of the nerve agent VX.

Weapons destruction is on hold at the Pine Bluff Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in White Hall, Ark., while workers replace piping in the incinerator's pollution-abatement system.

Disposal also is halted at the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility in Tooele, Utah, while workers prepare the plant to destroy mustard blister agent.
