RICHMOND, Ky. President Bush's 2007 budget proposal includes 317 (m) million dollars to fund chemical weapons disposal sites in Kentucky and Colorado.

Senator Mitch McConnell is praising it as a victory for the chemical weapons plant in Richmond. The money -- if approved -- would help expedite the destruction of tons of deadly weapons stored at the site.

The Pentagon cut funding early last year. But under the new budget request, 175 (m) million would go to build a disposal facility in Kentucky. The rest would be for a site in Colorado and for federal program management.
