STOCKTON, Utah (AP) -- Eight workers
at the Tooele Chemical Agent Disposal Facility were being given medical
evaluations for possible exposure to VX nerve agent, Deseret Chemical Depot
officials said Tuesday.
The workers showed no signs or symptoms of exposure but the evaluations
were being conducted as a precaution because of contamination readings on
a set of Life Support System air hoses used during routine toxic operations
on Monday and Tuesday. The workers' protective gear includes charcoal filters for additional
protection. Officials still were awaiting results of lab tests in the medical
evaluations.
