ANNISTON, Ala. (AP) — The operations at the Anniston chemical weapons incinerator reached a milestone Wednesday. The last G-B filled munition from 43 storage igloos was delivered to the disposal facility.
The Army said it took more than two-thousand-800 trips during the past 31 months to move the entire stockpile of sarin-filled munitions.
Now, two more types of chemical weapons still wait to be destroyed in the massive incinerator -- M-55 rockets filled with V-X nerve gas and mustard agent munitions. Destruction of the V-X munitions is scheduled to begin this summer.
