Dear Senator,

The Kentucky Citizens Advisory Commission (CAC) urges you to act to prevent major delays in destroying Kentucky's chemical weapons stockpile.  The Pentagon has cut funding for our sister stockpile site in Colorado and now appears poised to cut funding for Kentucky.

We ask you to emphasize the need for full funding to Mr. Michael Wynne, Acting Undersecretary of Defense (A,L&T).  We request that you urge him to submit a budget request providing full funding for Kentucky and Colorado disposal efforts in FY 2006 and later years..

The Pentagon's budget cuts in Colorado, and threatened cuts in Kentucky, would delay destruction of Kentucky's chemical stockpile by many years.  This delay increases risks to local citizens especially in light of terrorist threats.

Enclosed is a letter from the Kentucky Chemical Demilitarization Citizens Advisory Board (CD CAB), our independent subcommittee, setting forth the situation in more detail.  The Kentucky CAC unanimously supports the CD CAB's position and asks your assistance in making sure Kentucky's chemical weapons stockpile is destroyed as expeditiously as possible.

Thanks you for your strong leadership on this critical issue.
